Who's for Smart Irrigation?

This summer marked the fifth year Ewing has given out free blue wristbands to promote water efficiency and Smart Irrigation Month.

Since June we’ve received hundreds of requests online for our free wristbands, from 33 states and even one request from Mumbai! (Sorry, we can't ship internationally at this time!)

This year our message was “Smart Irrigation Starts with You” and now we’ve found out who’s supporting smart irrigation.

The majority of our requests came from lawn, landscape and irrigation businesses, and many requested wristbands for their whole crew. J in Atlanta wrote, “It's a good conversation starter for generating leads.”

We also found out that golf courses, school districts and universities, teachers, repairmen, state, county and city government workers,  water agencies, an electric company, groundskeepers, a cemetery, garden centers and nurseries, resorts—even a desert tortoise conservation center—all want to share the Smart Irrigation Month message. Some of these smart-minded folks included:

  • The Water Commission of Medford, Ore., which wanted some wristbands to share the smart irrigation message with their community.
  • A nursery manager for Lake Mead National Recreation Area also wanted some to help “the Park to promote water smarts.”
  • A teacher in North Carolina is sharing 30 wristbands with his irrigation class.
  • One particularly water-conscious Michigan State University student thinks they are “a cool way to spread awareness.”
  • Two guys requested them for their wives. (The gift of smart irrigation is a great way to show someone you care!)
  • Aaron in Humble, Tex. requested one and wrote, “I think this is a great idea to try and let everyone know how important it is to utilize a automated irrigation system.”

The Irrigation Association first launched Smart Irrigation Month in July 2005, and it continues to gain traction as more people recognize the benefits of efficient irrigation.

It’s inspiring to see such a wide-ranging group sharing the message of water conservation. Thank you to everyone out there sporting a new blue wristband!
