“I installed dripline with check valve emitters, and it doesn’t work!” Sound familiar? Start the troubleshooting process by checking the pressure within the dripline zone.

Install a pressure gauge to determine that the minimum required dynamic pressure is available at the nonworking emitters.

If the pressure indication is low, identify and solve the pressure challenges. It may be necessary to increase the pressure regulator rating or center feed the drip zone to regain flow and pressure. If the available flow has been exceeded, it may be necessary to remove dripline or replace with lower gallonage emitters on wider spacing.

Installing an operation indicator is an effective way to monitor and verify that a zone of drip irrigation is working. Installing a Rain Bird Operation Indicator or a Netafim Pressure Indicator Stake at the end of the zone provides visual confirmation that the zone is operating properly.

When faced with check valve dripline challenges, always begin with an evaluation of the pressure and hydraulic details of the installation.
