Boost Employee Retention with Retirement Plans

In today’s competitive job market, retaining employees is essential. Offering a retirement plan can give your business a critical edge. Now, thanks to the SECURE Act (Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement), it’s easier and more affordable than ever to provide this valuable benefit.

The SECURE Act was created to help small business owners like you establish retirement savings plans without high administrative costs. Key benefits include:

  • Up to $16,500 in Tax Credits: Eligible businesses can receive $5,000 annually for three years after starting a retirement plan.
  • Automatic Enrollment Incentives: Employers implementing automatic enrollment can earn an additional $500 annually for three years.
  • Simplified 401(k) Options: The cap for auto-enrolling employees in “safe harbor” retirement plans increased from 10% to 15% of wages.

Additional SECURE Act Highlights

  • A $500 annual tax credit for creating a 401(k) or SIMPLE IRA plan with automatic enrollment.
  • Eligibility for part-time employees working 1,000 hours annually or 500 hours over three consecutive years.
  • Tax-advantaged 529 accounts can now be used for qualified student loan repayments.
  • Employers can offer annuities in retirement plans with reduced liability concerns.
  • Penalty-free 401(k) withdrawals of $5,000 to cover adoption or childbirth costs.
  • Required minimum distributions now begin at age 73 instead of 70½.
