More than 1 trillion gallons of water is wasted each year from minor leaks in homes nationwide. Each March, one week is set aside to remind people to check for leaks in their plumbing and irrigation systems—Fix a Leak Week starts today and runs through Sunday.

While Fix a Leak Week is only seven days long, you can access the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s WaterSense program resources year-round. These tools include tips on finding and fixing simple leaks in irrigation systems, toilets and showerheads. Fixing these leaks can save up to ten percent on utility bills.

The Fix a Leak Week website also offers a place to find events in your area to celebrate saving water. In Arizona, Ewing has partnered with local water agencies, encouraging Arizona residents to get active for a good cause—water efficiency. Team Ewing runners completing the One for the Water 4-Miler on March 22 will be joined by a water efficiency mascot, Rowdy Rotor, a leaky sprinkler rotor.
