How long have you been in the industry and what do you do?
Jakes Lawn Care of Fort Worth
I've been in this industry for 45 plus years and with Jeff Kauffman at Jake's Lawn Care for I believe 18 years now. I am the General Manager in charge of all the scheduling, maintenance (mowing, bed and hedge and fertilizer) sales and customer service for over 400 customers.
What’s a typical day like for you?
No two days are alike in this business, which means there are no typical days. But I like the challenges that come with my work.
What is something you didn’t expect about being a boss?
Finding and keeping good workers is something that I never expected to have to worry about when I began working in this industry. I think it is an industry-wide problem that seems to get more difficult each year. If we had an unlimited amount of good qualified workers, the sky would be the limit!
What do you like about working in the Green Industry?
I enjoy being able to do something different everyday, love working outside and the satisfaction of beautifying the neighborhood.
What advice do you have for others on being a good boss?
I believe you should get to know your workers, listen to them and take good care of your best employees and not take them for granted.
