New Tucson Ordinance Forcing Commercial Property Owners to ‘Kiss the Rain’

Commercial developments will soon be required to install a rainwater harvesting system on site for landscape water use. To educate all affected parties about available rainwater harvesting products, Ewing will host a rainwater harvesting seminar and hands-on rainwater harvesting system build.

What:
Rainfall has always been a welcomed event in the Sonoran desert, but with the onset of a new Tucson ordinance requiring commercial developments to capture rainwater for landscape use, rainfall has now become the new jewel of the desert.

Effective June 1, 2010, a new City of Tucson ordinance will require all new commercial buildings to provide 50 percent of the landscape water requirement with harvested rainwater.

To help commercial property owners fall into compliance with this new ordinance, Ewing, a supplier of landscape and water management products, will host a rainwater harvesting seminar and build.
