Experiencing the Phoenix Open Through Ewing’s Golf Getaway

The roar of the crowd on the 17th hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open is something most golf fans only see on television. But for attendees of Ewing’s annual Golf Getaway, it’s an experience that puts them right in the middle of the action.

For Tyler Cone, golf course superintendent at Highland Park Golf Club, experiencing that atmosphere in person was unforgettable.

“The energy from the crowd is nothing like anything else in golf,” Cone said. “When someone hits a great shot it feels less like a golf hole and more like an NFL stadium. When someone sticks it close or drains a putt, the crowd erupts, and it’s impossible not to get caught up in it.”

Moments like these are exactly what make Ewing’s Golf Getaway such a memorable experience. Each year, the event brings together golf course professionals and industry partners, not just to watch world-class golf, but to connect with peers who share the same passion for the game.

Throughout the week, attendees had opportunities to step away from their daily routines and spend time with others in the industry, whether that meant sharing stories at dinner, talking between holes, or simply enjoying the tournament together.

One highlight was Ewing’s hosted Pink Ball tournament at Talking Stick Golf Club. The format added a fun twist, which encouraged teamwork and friendly competition as teams worked together.

The setting made it easy for conversations to flow naturally. What started as casual discussions on the course often turned into deeper conversations about course management, industry trends, and shared challenges.

While time on the course created opportunities for connection, the excitement of the tournament remained the centerpiece of the week. From Ewing’s private suite overlooking the famous 17th hole at TPC Scottsdale, attendees experienced one of golf’s most electric stages up close.

“You really feel the excitement build with every shot,” Cone said. “You can see the players up close, watch the fans going wild, and still enjoy the hospitality. It really is the best of both worlds.”

For many attendees, the week was about more than just watching great golf. It was an opportunity to spend time with peers who understand the challenges of the profession, exchange ideas, and build relationships that continue long after the tournament ends.
