The 2024 AZ Sports Field Training Day at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale was a grand slam success! Held on Tuesday, May 14, the event drew over 130 attendees from more than 50 different entities across Arizona, showcasing the strength and passion of the sports field management community.
As attendees arrived, they were welcomed with event shirts and an array of Ewing swag, setting the tone for an engaging day ahead. The excitement continued as participants entered a vibrant vendor fair featuring 20 diverse vendors. These vendors offered everything from sports field conditioners and mound clays to hoses, nozzles, tools, paint, seed, and irrigation supplies. Ewing also teamed up with ABI to provide a hands-on demo of their Force infield machine, showcasing some of the latest field maintenance equipment; a highlight for many field managers eager to see the latest technology in action.
Throughout the morning, participants engaged in informative breakout sessions that covered crucial aspects of sports field maintenance. Sessions included infield renovation and maintenance, mound and home plate upkeep, hand watering and nozzle demonstrations, field painting basics, and seed and turfgrass management. These sessions were designed to provide practical knowledge and skills that attendees could immediately apply to their fields.
The event featured a delicious ballpark-style lunch, providing a perfect opportunity for networking and sharing experiences. The day concluded with an exciting raffle of door prizes from vendors and Ewing, along with refreshing ice cream treats.
