March 14, 2017, Phoenix, Ariz.—There’s no shortage of things to do at the newly opened Ewing Irrigation and Landscape Supply store in Inglewood, Calif. From the moment its doors opened last year, the store’s team has hit the ground running serving customers and building relationships with people in the community.
Located at 400 S. Hindry Ave., just over a mile from Los Angeles International Airport and near the popular eatery Randy’s Donuts, Ewing LAX serves the Inglewood, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Redondo Beach, Hawthorne areas and more. Branch Manager, Mario Gonzalez, said the location of the branch is incredibly important in a city like L.A.
When it can take 45 minutes to get just 15 miles, having many convenient locations is a key to great customer service.
However, multiple convenient locations is just one of the services Ewing provides its customers. Gonzalez said with many large construction projects coming to the area, such as the L.A. Rams new football stadium—which broke ground late last year—Ewing LAX is poised to serve its community and help the city grow.
“We’re able to provide help to contractors and landscapers in the area, and we’re also able to provide inventory to the other Ewing stores around us,” Gonzalez said.
Community involvement
To get to know the community better and grow their customer base, Ewing LAX will be hosting a grand opening event April 13. The event will take place at the store’s location and will allow customers a chance to get to know the Ewing team, learn about the products sold at Ewing and build a lasting relationship with Ewing as more than just a supplier, but as a business partner.
More than irrigation
While irrigation is Ewing’s namesake and the backbone of the company, it’s just the beginning of what Ewing can provide for customers.
Since opening its doors, Ewing LAX has already started connecting with the community and integrating into the city by providing erosion and dust control products to the L.A. Rams stadium build.
“Project contractors have to make sure that the dust (from the construction) doesn’t affect the homes around the area, so we provided a liquid dust control product to help,” Gonzalez said.
Ewing LAX is also working with local schools by providing products for sports fields maintenance, such as paints and chalks, spreaders, tampers and more.
Gonzalez said with all the upcoming projects and construction the city will be experiencing, he expects a lot of homeowners and local landscapers will be revamping their yards and the city’s community spaces.
With this in mind, landscape contractors and homeowners can pick up outdoor kitchen products, backyard barbeques, landscape and holiday lighting, water features, as well as pavers and hardscape products at Ewing in addition to all their irrigation supplies to create beautiful landscapes and yards.
“Being able to sell to anyone that walks in the door, whether you’re a homeowner or a contractor or an architect, is my goal,” Gonzalez said.
Sustainability and water efficiency
As part of Ewing’s overall commitment to sustainability, Gonzalez says he’s hoping to partner with local water districts to help implement water saving practices to conserve water in a city that has been badly affected by drought.
Ewing sells a variety of water efficient irrigation controllers that are eligible for rebate programs in L.A. to assist contractors and homeowners alike in maintaining healthy, sustainable landscapes.
Gonzalez said they also plan to host sustainability classes for homeowners and landscape contractors at the branch to teach them how they can implement sustainable practices into their businesses and homes.
