December 20, 2013, Phoenix, Ariz.—On Sunday, January 19, Ewing Irrigation will welcome over 700 Team Ewing runners, including 470 employees, to the P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon & ½ Marathon as part of the team’s tenth anniversary.
Members of the media are invited to Ewing’s pre-race and post-race events, and to learn about one of the most successful corporate teams in the race’s history.
On the eve of the race, Team Ewing will hear from John Bingham, a renowned marathoner and running author. Bingham, “The Penguin,” will speak to Team Ewing about his philosophy of running for fun and having the goal to finish, rather than running fast like an elite runner.Team Ewing runners range from beginners attempting their first half marathon to experienced marathoners. Since 2005, Ewing has offered its employees from across the U.S. the chance to participate in this event, in an effort to encourage healthy, active lifestyles. Ewing provides employees and their guest with transportation, hotel accommodations, race entry, pre-race dinner and a technical running shirt.
Team Ewing will also present the results of this year’s fundraising efforts to Autism Speaks. In the past five years, Team Ewing raised over $150,000 for the charity. With 736 members, this is the largest Team Ewing ever. Last year’s team of 416 members raised $35,000 for Autism Speaks,which included a company match and a generous $10,000 donation from Philips Hadco.
Ewing’s president, Doug York, Team Ewing captains Cliff Woodbury and Bobby Diaz, and runners will be available for interviews. - 6:40 p.m. A pep rally with guest speaker John Bingham and Autism Speaks fundraising results presentation.

- 5:30 a.m. Team Ewing pre-race breakfast in the Galleria near the DoubleTree by Hilton’s front lobby.
- 6:30 a.m. Catch the Ewing shuttle to the half marathon starting line with Team Ewing.
- 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Post-race celebration at the Team Ewing finish line tent at Tempe Beach Park.
