While hardscape and outdoor kitchens allow customers to utilize their outdoor space and beautiful landscape lighting extends that use into the nighttime hours, outdoor sound systems create a desire to be in that space.

Take your customer’s backyards to the next level with an outdoor sound system.

First, you have to identify which customers are right for outdoor sound. Read this blog for three tips on how to identify customers, then read on for our four tips for installation.

1. Perform a sound demo

Once you’ve identified the right customers for the system, perform a sound demo to showcase the effect an outdoor sound system can have on their outdoor living space. Contact your local Ewing store to request a sound demo and assistance on the job.

Sound demos allow customers to experience immersive sound and develop a comfort level with the product. Showing them what the system will sound like in their backyard with their music will more than likely ensure satisfaction with the end product.

2. Set up the subwoofer

Creating an immersive sound bubble sure to impress customers starts with proper placement of the system. Sound travels best through a medium and centralizing the bass toward the back of the given area will fill it with rich, deep bass notes. Placement against a wall, boulders or other solid structures will allow those notes to bounce back into the area being used, intensifying the sound throughout the outdoor space. 

3. Ensure proper wire placement

Once the heart of your system is in place, set the satellites around the subwoofer along the perimeter of the area, creating a 180-degree configuration of satellites. The satellites can be separated with four left channels and four right channels on each side of the center.

Next, you will need to wire the system correctly in order to get the best quality sound out of the system. Unlike most landscape lighting systems, outdoor sound must be wired to maintain separation of the left and right channels and maintain separation of positive and negative sides of the wires (this is called polarity).

4. Figure out how to interface with the system

The last step in successfully installing an outdoor sound system is to choose how your customer will interface with the system. 

Customers can choose to install a standard Bluetooth audio adapter if a high quality, high fidelity wireless streaming source is not desired. Direct connections are also an option.
