In an effort to adapt to the challenges of COVID-19, the Ewing Education team moved our free webinars and state-approved courses to a virtual learning setting. While this change provides several benefits for our customers, there may be questions about how to navigate the online learning environment. In this article, we will share tips to help you get the most out of attending a virtual webinar.
When deciding where to attend a virtual course, you’ll want to consider the possible distractions and internet service quality.
We recommend finding a quiet place to take the course. You’ll want to make sure there is no noise competing with the instructor as they present the course materials. If you have the ability to be behind closed doors, this would be the ideal setting. However, this may not be an option for you. To help create a quiet setting, limit auditory distractions like TV and avoid crowded, noisy places. For example, you could be considering the local coffee shop with free Wi-Fi, but will the busy crowd and music of the business cause a sensory overload making it difficult to provide full attention during the webinar? Take a personal assessment of your area to find where you can attend with limited distractions.
Ewing Education courses are held on Zoom, providing video of the presentation and allowing you to see, even interact, with the instructor. Video streaming the class requires a strong internet connection. If the connection is weak, the audio and video can have delays, frozen video, or even drop the video and the more people on the same internet exaggerates those problems. Your home or office are better options for increased internet speed.
After the class, you can share what you have learned with co-workers or employees. This will help you retain the information you have learned.
Life can get busy and you may miss a webinar. Every free webinar is available on EwingIrrigation.com for easy, convenient access to our library of courses. These courses are available for your use, including training your employees, learning new skills and practices to help your growing business. Check out our past webinars now available.
By planning ahead, you can limit distractions and set yourself up to get the most out of a virtual webinar. We are looking forward to a time when we can all be in person again, but in the meantime, register for online courses that will keep your skills sharp and keep you connected to what's happening in the industry.
