Already in our mosquito series we’ve shared why these pesky pests bite, the dangers of their bites and how to get them to stop. Then we covered a new repellent solution that blends into any landscape.
But what if your customers want a different solution? Perhaps a repellent fixture doesn’t work for them because of cost, the space is too large or they just don’t want a permanent mosquito control fixture.
There are a variety options available for your arsenal of mosquito and pest management. Here are a few of the other services and offerings you can provide your customers to save their backyards from those pesky bugs.
There are a variety of insecticide options, from fogging applications and sprays utilizing the latest chemical formulas to organic options. Insecticides are effective and affordable options, when applied according to the label. These products are best used when controlling adult mosquito populations.
Most spray applications of insecticides provide long residual activity for improved pest control, some up to 60 days. It’s important to read the label prior to applying near ornamentals to ensure you don’t damage certain plant species.
“The Mirimichi Green Pest Control is an all-natural formula with organic raw materials that effectively controls common pests, including mosquitos, ticks and other insects,” said Gorowitz.
Mosquito and insect foggers are great solutions for spot uses. Fogging an area for mosquito control won’t keep the pests away long-term, but if your customer only needs mosquito control once and a while, like for special occasions or parties, a fogger is great solution that provides about six hours of mosquito and biting insect relief. Fogging also works faster than an insect growth regulator.
At Ewing, we offer a propane fogger from The Fountainhead Group and a variety of insecticides that work with the fogger, including the Black Flag Fogging Insecticide.
An insect growth regulator affects the lifecycle of specific pests, making it an effective long-term solution for pest control. Growth regulators, like Martin’s IG Insect Growth Regulator, inhibit larvae from advancing to adults for mosquitos, fleas, flies and more. While the results are not instantaneous, your customers can start to see results within two to four weeks. The results can last up to seven months.
