Imagine Landscapes Without Water

For Imagine a Day Without Water, we want you to imagine landscapes without water. What would they look like? What would our world look like?

As you walk your child to school, you see brown. There’s dried grass, dead trees and dirt everywhere. After you drop off your child, you begin your day installing landscape lighting to illuminate rock features and concrete patios for people to enjoy after a long day.

Without water, there would be no lawns to mow, no irrigation systems to install and no shrubs to prune. Without water, soccer fields wouldn’t have lush grass for the ball to roll over, golf courses wouldn’t be green and agriculture would be nearly impossible.

What would your job look like without water?

What would your job look like without water?

Our landscapes would look different. Our world would look different. Our jobs would look different. On Imagine a Day Without Water, it seems almost impossible to image landscapes without water.

Imagine a Day Without Water

Today is the third annual nationwide day of education and advocacy from the Value of Water campaign, encouraging people to take a look at water infrastructure and imagine what it may look like if those didn’t exist. Many take freshwater and water systems for granted.

On average, 37 percent of the freshwater withdrawn daily in the U.S. goes to irrigation. If there really was a day without water, what would change?
