How to Pitch Winterization Services to Homeowners

Colder months can sometimes cause a slowdown in business for landscape contractors, but offering seasonal services such as winterization can help you earn additional revenue in fall and early winter. Winterization services are a great way to earn seasonal revenue and help your clients maintain a functional irrigation system throughout winter and into spring.

While winterization is a preventative service, it can be necessary for many areas across the country that see freezing temperatures for months on end. If you haven’t pitched winterization to clients before, here are three selling points to highlight when you offer this service to customers.

    1. It Will Prevent Damage in the Springtime

If an irrigation system isn’t properly winterized, water will be left in the pipes all winter. When temperatures get below freezing, the water will freeze and expand in the pipes, which could cause cracks in the pipe or on the fittings.

Not winterizing an irrigation system won’t always result in cracked, broken or busted parts, but it could, and even if something doesn’t break right away, it could be damaged, causing leaks or breaks down the line.

    2. Contractors Have the Right Tools

Homeowners may not have the correct tools or knowledge to properly winterize their irrigation systems. For example, many homeowners might own an air compressor, but a standard air compressor isn’t the right tool for the job.

    3. It Will Save Money

Ultimately, the best way to pitch your winterization services to customers is to highlight how you can save them money and a lot of headaches come springtime if there is any damage to their systems.

Hiring a professional can reduce stress, ensure the job is done right and save your clients money long term.

To earn additional revenue this fall season, talk to your clients about winterizing their irrigation systems before the weather gets too cold. For more information, check out the following blogs and videos for more on how to winterize an irrigation system.
