Ewing Irrigation Gives Columbia Landscape Professionals New Distributor Option

Service, water conservation initiatives and educational programs differentiate Ewing from other distributors in the region.

July 10, 2008, Phoenix, Ariz.—Ewing Irrigation Products, the Phoenix-based distributor of landscape, irrigation and industrial products, enters the South Carolina market, opening its first location in Columbia.

Having purchased and remodeled a 10,000-square-foot building, Ewing is currently stocking inventory and prepping for its anticipated opening at the beginning of August.

Bill Bruner, 15-year green industry veteran with a wealth of experience in the Columbia market, will take the helm as manager of the new location.

“After spending several years working in both the distributorship and contracting channels, I have learned that the most important element of running a branch is making sure my customers are successful and profitable,” said Bruner.

Bruner is well-adapted to opening and managing branches. During his previous tenure at a national landscape distribution company, he opened two branch locations—in both South Carolina and North Carolina—and successfully jump started operations.

Once the new Columbia facility is operational, Bruner is planning to host educational seminars for industry professionals interested in expanding their knowledge base, including landscape contractors, irrigation technicians, landscape architects and public agency irrigators.

Water Conservation Initiatives

Columbia’s downtown gentrification, coupled with the opportunity to be at the forefront as an educator in the water conservation movement—a movement which has intensified with the ongoing drought—served as a catalyst for Ewing’s expansion into the market.

“With the current drought situation in South Carolina and the Southeast, consumers are seeking water-efficient irrigation products and services out of necessity,” said Douglas York, president of Ewing Irrigation and current president of the Irrigation Association. “On a national level, the EPA’s WaterSense and USGBC’s LEED programs have strengthened their focus on promoting proper water management in the landscape, piquing demand across the board. Offering water-wise services is essential for the irrigation professional’s future success in the industry.”

Ewing offers the latest water-saving technologies such as water-efficient sprinklers, ‘smart’ controllers, soil-moisture sensors, rain sensors, drip irrigation components and other weather-based irrigation products.

The store and warehouse is located off the I-20 at 101 Sunbelt Court.  Ewing is your premier source for conservation solutions, and a leading authority on the latest water management products, trends and best practices.
