Ewing Hosts Free Landscape Water Conservation Seminar in Spokane, Wash.

Seminar Focuses on Water-Efficient Landscape Practices During Smart Irrigation Month

July 1, 2010, Spokane, Wash.—Instead of watering the yard as usual this summer, do something smart—find out how smart irrigation can reduce your water use and cut your water bills.

This summer Spokane Country water use will triple because of increased irrigation and July is traditionally the peak demand month for water in North America. The Irrigation Association has named July Smart Irrigation Month to increase public awareness of the value of water-use efficiency and grow demand for water-saving products, practices and services. Up to half of the water used for lawns and gardens is wasted, due to runoff, evaporation and overwatering. These problems can be virtually eliminated with smart irrigation practices.

Ewing Irrigation Products will be hosting a free Water Conservation Summit at its Spokane branch on July 10, to show homeowners how they can efficiently water their landscape, saving water and money.

Beginning at 10 a.m., visitors can see working demonstrations of:

  • Rain/weather sensors
  • Smart irrigation controllers
  • High-efficiency rotary sprinkler nozzles
  • Soil moisture sensors
  • Low-volume drip irrigation

See how these products save water, have your questions answered by representatives from Rain Bird, Toro, Hunter and Baseline, and enjoy some coffee and doughnuts on the house. Ewing staff will also be on hand to share other ways landscapes can be more sustainable, including permeable pavers, low-voltage landscape lighting and rainwater harvesting systems.
