Steve Sakurai to lead golf sales and service team, promote water efficient irrigation practices and support the golf specification community.
April 16, 2010, Phoenix, Ariz.—Ewing Irrigation is pleased to announce the promotion of Steve Sakurai to the position of National Golf Product Sales Manager. Sakurai will be responsible for the oversight of all golf endeavors—an effort encompassing new golf construction and existing courses, as well as all golf sales and marketing efforts.
Sakurai will bolster Ewing’s footprint as the industry-leading provider of goods and services by strengthening relationships with vendors, and through the professional development of a 10-person golf sales team.
“I plan to support the golf industry with a team of trained and dedicated professionals,” says Sakurai. “Everyone on the team is either certified or has passed the first step toward becoming a Certified Golf Irrigation Auditor (CGIA).”
Available as a resource to golf course professionals, Sakurai and his team intend to foster sustainable environments by replacing wasteful system deficiencies with water-efficient products, provide training for CGIA certification, and integrate cultural practices that will aid in conservation.
Previously, Sakurai served as a golf specification manager for Ewing’s West Coast golf operations, where he built and maintained relationships with golf course architects and irrigation consultants, as well as provided education on the breadth of Ewing’s golf product line, which includes Hunter Golf, SandMat, Profile Products, ADS and Watertronics.
Sakurai will continue to support the golf specification community in the Western United States.
Based out of the Anaheim, Calif. branch, Sakurai’s newly expanded territory encompasses 195 Ewing branches in 22 states.
Sakurai is equipped with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from California Polytechnic State University - Pomona, and is a member of the American Society of Irrigation Consultants (ASIC), the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), and formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA).
