APR. 29, 2022, PHOENIX - Ewing Irrigation & Landscape Supply announces the addition of Account Manager Billy Lewis to its Golf Division.
“The Ewing Golf team is very excited to have Billy Lewis join our team,” said Regional Manager Curtis Bruton, who brought Lewis on board in March 2022. “He brings years of industry relationships and experience which will enhance our Southeast team. We are excited to be working with him.”
Lewis is a 32-year green industry veteran based in Pinehurst, North Carolina. He serves customers in coastal South Carolina and Georgia.
“I am very excited to help my customers achieve their goals,” Lewis said. “I feel Ewing offers me that very opportunity, and I am eager to meet new people and build new relationships.”
Lewis brings a wide range of experience in golf course management to Ewing, having served as superintendent of three North Carolina golf courses — Oak Island Golf Course, Brierwood Golf Club, and Carolina National Golf Club.
Before joining Ewing, he was director of agronomy at the Dormie Club in West End, North Carolina, for 11 years.
He also served on the board of directors of the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association (GCSA) for 12 years, where he held the office of president, and served as president of the Cape Fear and Sandhills GCSA boards. He holds an associate degree in turf management from Horry-Georgetown Community College in Conway, South Carolina.
Lewis said fellow turfgrass professionals Don Cross, Greg Cross, and Michael Claffey have had the most influence on his turf career.
“Don and Greg Cross taught me the value of making a golf course great with limited assets,” he said. “Mike Claffey taught me discipline and commitment to my craft.”
Lewis considers mentoring and helping his staff with everyday life issues his greatest success and aspires to become a life coach after retiring from the green industry. When he’s not helping customers with their golf needs, Lewis enjoys playing golf, riding his motorcycle, and tinkering with and repairing trucks.
