3 Ways to Promote Fix a Leak Week with Clients

Written by Ewing Outdoor Supply | Mar 14, 2015 5:35:39 PM

More than 1 trillion gallons of water is wasted each year from minor leaks in homes nationwide. The beginning of spring is a great time to encourage people to check for leaks in their homes—or hire a pro to make sure everything is in good shape. Fix a Leak Week, March 16 – 22, is a great time to talk to your clients about leaks in their landscape irrigation systems and how you can help fix them.

1.     Water-saving tools.

Let your clients know how much water they are wasting—and how much money they could save—if you performed a site inspection and irrigation audit. To help promote your services, download Ewing’s free water efficiency/smart irrigation awareness flyer and a water smart site checklist.

Use these tools, and talk to your clients about saving water and fixing leaks. Landscape irrigation systems should be checked each spring before use to make sure they were not damaged by winter frost or freezing temperatures. According to the EPA WaterSense website, "An irrigation system that has a leak 1/32nd of an inch in diameter (about the thickness of a dime) can waste about 6,300 gallons of water per month." For more facts and figures to share with your clients, check out the Fix a Leak Week website.

2.     Get certified.

Increase your credibility and build trust with current and potential customers by becoming certified. Depending on your state, you can become a certified irrigation auditor, contractor or designer. Find a list of certification programs here.
